Our Story
The United Way of White County was formed in 1983 by concerned citizens interested in the well-being of the non-profit agencies that depend on contributions to carry out their functions in White County. The United Way of White County is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization governed by a local, volunteer board of directors and supported by dedicated volunteers.
The UWWC supports 18 agencies providing a wide range of human services directly to the residents of White County. Over 96% of funds invested in the community through the UWWC go directly to the supported agencies. Agencies supported by the United Way must be non-profit, tax-exempt, practice sound financial management, have at least
two years in operation before being considered, and be non-discriminatory.
The Board of the United Way of White County is made up entirely by volunteers, the
following people donate their time for your community.

When you invest in United Way you change your community. Whether it's an investment of time, services, materials or a monetary gift, you are helping to improve lives and deliver meaningful results.We will soon allow you to donate online directly to the White County United Way chapter but in the mean time we are happy to accept donations mailed to United Way of White County PO. Box 1288 Cleveland, GA 30528. You can be sure your gift will make a difference in the lives of people you may never meet, but who desperately need your help. United Way White County partners with many local agencies who are also able to receive donations directly. Our partners do benefit from events United Way White County conduct, but we know it is not enough. It's also not always about cash donations too, many of our agencies accept a wide range of donated goods. From food to office supplies to building materials to clothing. Giving takes on a broad meaning in a community like ours. |

We can all can champion the cause in some way, the first step is actually knowing there are many ways you can advocate. Whether you are speaking out in your community to improve education, income and health, or reaching out to members of Congress it all counts. Even wearing the LIVE UNITED shirt to show your support, you can help inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow for White County residents. VolunteerVolunteering, its a great feeling.
There are many ways to volunteer in your community to make a difference in White County. Our sponsored agencies are always open for assistance and that can take many different forms. From physical help at events and in sponsored programs, to helping with marketing or other administration duties. The best place to start is to contact our sponsored agencies directly and ask what they need help with. All agencies have their contact details on this website and will warmly welcome your volunteer contribution. Whether it is daily or just a few hours a month it all adds up and equally appreciated by everyone involved. So make a plan to volunteer, tell your friends and family and maybe get them involved too. Together we can make a difference to so many people here in White County and your United Way White County chapter encourages all residents to consider, plan, ask and then volunteer.
