Agencies Receive Funding

United Way White County recently announced the 18 local agencies that shared in $100,000 raised during the past year. It was the first time the United Way had reached the six figure sum thanks to events including Charity Golf Day and the Festival of Trees.

The local United Way President Carl Free (pictured right) discussed with attendees the various partner organizations where the funds were distributed, all of which support the White County community or residents. In all eighteen agencies received funding with two new recipients this year. The majority of the funding is raised through the groups two major events, the annual Celebrity Golf Tournament in Helen and the very popular Chamber of Commerce Festival of Trees.

Free went on to laud those those who contributed to the groups success and those who participated in the fundraising events, made special donations or participated in the payroll deduction program. Free also gave special mention to members of the United Way Board and past president Mr. Jack McMullan.
