United Way of White County announced recently their annual allocation of funds to partner charity organizations. The agency also celebrated their 25th year of service to the White County community by reaching the $100,000 mark in funds raised.
The local United Way President Carl Free (pictured right) discussed with attendees the various partner organizations where the funds were distributed, all of which support the White County community or residents. In all eighteen agencies received funding with two new recipients this year. The majority of the funding is raised through the groups two major events, the annual Celebrity Golf Tournament in Helen and the very popular Chamber of Commerce Festival of Trees.
Free went on to laud those those who contributed to the groups success and those who participated in the fundraising events, made special donations or participated in the payroll deduction program. Free also gave special mention to members of the United Way Board and past president Mr. Jack McMullan.
